Second-Hand Goods in Southside Suburbia

At JP & Brimelow, we love shining a light on the independent businesses, community groups and events that make South Manchester such a brilliant place to live and Rummage in the Range is a fantastic example.

For the past five years, Rummage in the Range has been bringing people together in Whalley Range for a monthly celebration of second-hand treasures, independent traders, good food, music, drinks and, most importantly, community.

Held at The Carlton Club, the large-scale car boot sale takes place on the first Saturday of every month, welcoming up to 50 traders and attracting people from across South Manchester and beyond.

And this isn’t your traditional car boot sale!

SECOND-HAND, SUSTAINABLE & FULL OF TREASURES

Rummage in the Range is proudly community focused, with only second-hand goods permitted.

That means you never quite know what you’re going to discover.

Vintage clothing, records, books, bric-a-brac, furniture, collectibles and all sorts of weird and wonderful treasures can be found across the stalls.

It’s the joy of rummaging, you might arrive looking for one particular thing and leave with something completely unexpected!

And there’s a bigger idea behind it all.

By encouraging people to buy, sell, reuse and discover second-hand items, Rummage in the Range helps give pre-loved goods a new lease of life rather than seeing them go to waste.

MORE THAN A MARKET

The event has grown into much more than a place to buy and sell things.

There’s a fully stocked bar, street food, activities and plenty of opportunities to meet people, have a chat and enjoy the atmosphere.

Rummage in the Range is all about creating an inclusive space where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together, have fun and enjoy something happening right in their own neighbourhood.

And that’s something we really love.

TAKING RUMMAGE ACROSS MANCHESTER

Over the years, Rummage in the Range has also taken its events to some fantastic venues across Manchester, including Stretford Public Hall, Projekts Skatepark, Platt Fields Market Garden, Niamos and events connected with Manchester International Festival.

Their relationships with local councils and community organisations have helped them create events in different neighbourhoods, bringing their unique blend of second-hand shopping, sustainability and community spirit to even more people.

They also have a real passion for working with community-owned independent venues, helping create spaces where local people can come together and enjoy something different.

WHY WE LOVE WHAT THEY DO

South Manchester is full of brilliant independent businesses, organisations and community initiatives and Rummage in the Range captures so much of what makes the area special.

📣 It’s local.

📣 It’s independent.

📣 It’s sustainable.

📣 It’s inclusive.

And, most importantly, it’s about people.

Whether you’re an experienced trader looking to clear some space, a vintage lover searching for your next treasure, a record collector, furniture hunter or simply someone who enjoys a great Saturday out, there’s always something to discover.

So, if you’ve never been, why not give it a go?

The Carlton Club, Whalley Range. First Saturday of every month.

Come along, have a rummage, grab something to eat, enjoy a drink and see what treasures you can find.

Because sometimes the best things in life are the things you weren’t looking for.
